Who: Barney
Where: Outside the Barracks
When: ...Day 18
Rating: R to be safe

Status: Closed / Finished
Summary: Barney is trying to subtly edge himself away from the barracks when he encounters Pandora, who is fascinated by him. He attempts to flirt his way out of the situation, which backfires and she starts to drink from him. Thankfully, Angua and Jasper come to his rescue, and Angua offers him a stone which he uses to return to DauphinMare.

He'd walked through the barracks on a bit of a stealth mission, dodging rooms and corridors that looked like they had trouble as best as he could, trying not to give off how scared he was.

Of course... wearing only pyjama pants? He kind of stuck out like a sore thumb. He wished they could have at least giving him a suit... But he supposed that defeated the point.

Easing his way from the barracks, he started to ease his way around the side. Maybe there was a forest that he could go get lost in or something...

She heard him coming, his thoughts. Smelled him too, scenting the air without thought, immediately picking him out. Topaz eyes gleamed with excitement as she eased closer to him, allowing her skirts to rustle slightly as she padded on slippered feet.

"You can't escape," she called softly, the tone of her voice entirely unnatural, "There are too many who would wish to harm you, Barney."

She didn't chase after him. No, Pandora didn't chase. She'd wait for him to stop, and then she'd engage. If he made her chase him, he would be very sorry when she caught up. And she would catch up.

He froze immediately, some sick twisted part of him wanting to see who was calling for him, and turned to face one of the most beautiful creatures that he had ever seen. His heart may have stopped beating for a moment, and he let out a strangled breath, his hand immediately reaching to adjust his tie before he remmebered that he wasn't wearing a suit.

How embarrassing.

"How do you...?" he started to ask, when he remembered that this was the woman who had singled him out yesterday. She was even more ravishing to behold with such dull and dreary surroundings.

Was she the reason he was over here?

Was Surprise?

He swallowed heavily, and thought about running, but maybe he should... try to... what? Reason with the psychopath? He scoffed a bit before his expression cleared.

"Are you one of them?" he asked, his tone surprised him with how vulnerable it sounded.

Pandora smirked slightly, the expression barely marring her features as she padded gracefully closer.

"One of whom?" she said quietly, nearing him, "You know where I'm from Barney; you saw me yesterday, told me all about your secrets." She eased closer, close enough to run two cold fingers down his cheek. "You told me everything I wanted to know," she whispered, gaze flickering over his features, straying to his bare skin, the blood she could hear pulsing under his skin, could scent beneath the thin sheath of flesh.

"Are you scared?" she asked him gently, a smile curving her lips, "You sound scared, pet."

"Of you?" Barney scoffed, but it was weak and feeble, and rather than his usual smug frown, his eyebrows were up, and there was a weak grin on his face. It was clear that he was trying desperately to hide his panic.

When she touched him, he backed himself so quickly against the wall that he felt his head connect with it - he hadn't been as far from it as he thought. Grinning sheepishly, as though he had half done it on purpose and not as an impulse to escape, he began to edge along the wall of the barracks, thinking that maybe if he could just get around the corner he could make a break for it...

"I'm not scared," he lied. "I just.. defected. This morning. I... need to speak to... what's his name. In charge there. You know, with the black hair and the scary smile. You know. Him."

She shook her head, eyes closing momentarily before she turned them full force onto him. Fingers traced over his neck, her gaze drifting there momentarily before reverting to meeting his. She put out an arm in the direction he'd been inching in.

"You shouldn't lie, Barney," she said softly, "That's not very nice. I haven't hurt you, have I? Surely you aren't insinuating that I might." Her gaze shifted, smile turning serpentine, and she lowered the tone of her voice so it was slow and seductive. "I am very thirsty, though," she murmured.

Thirsty. Oh fuck, he knew what that meant, and he couldn't stop the soft breathy whine that eased its way out of his mouth when he tried to speak.

"You... you started it," he stammered out. "All that talk of being from here... and people wanting to..." he was babbling, and he wanted very much to duck under her arm and run away. Very much. He almost wanted to cry that he couldn't.

"Don't bite me," he whimpered pleadingly. Had he been more sane, he might have been amused that he was quoting crazy people now.

"Now why shouldn't I bite you?" she murmured, and she eased closer still, the other hand coming up to bar his movement the other way if he was inclined, essentially pressing him to the wall. "You smell delicious, Barney, I'm sure you taste just the same."

She blew a breath over his neck before smiling smugly to him.

"Though maybe there's something else you prefer I do?" she suggested, "I can't very well let you go unscathed, you must know that."

"Why not?" he challenged. "Why can't you just... why do you have do.. do anything at all?" he could feel his muscles spasming slightly with his shivers. This was... significantly more intimidating than it was back in DauphinMare. In DauphinMare, he'd trusted that no one could - or would - hurt him. It had been easier to pretend he wasn't in the middle of a war.

And really, until yesterday, he'd had himself convinced.

...Maybe he could convinced himself now.

Focusing on her pretty features, pretending that she was just attracted to his good looks - he smelled good? That was totally a come on - he put a smirk into place. Within seconds, he had himself almost completely fooled. As long as he focused on her beauty and not the surrounding area, he was pretty sure he'd be okay.

"Something else I'd prefer you do?" he asked, pretending to think about it. "Well. I think that I'd... prefer you do... me," he said, and then he smirked.

A flicker of panic crossed his eyes as he realized that OH MY GOD HE WAS FLIRTING WITH A VAMPIRE THAT WAS PROBABLY GOING TO KILL HIM OR BITE HIM OR AT LEAST HURT HIM VERY BADLY. But the moment passed.

Pandora raised a perfectly manicured eyebrow, a little taken aback at his suggestion. She laughed a little, the sound of it akin to the clarity of a bell ringing rather close to them.

"You'd prefer I have sex with you, Barney, is that what you're suggesting?" she asked, and she laughed again, "No, I don't think that will be happening, pet. Because, you see, that's not what I desire. I might be inclined once I've fed, but since you seem so against that, I could always hurt you in other ways."

She was very, very inclined to feed from him, and she eased forward, pressing her lips to his neck, letting her sharp eyeteeth rest teasingly against his skin. Her marble body held him in place, pressing closer against him. She was well aware that she was playing with her food, but in a guilty sort of way, she was enjoying it.

He felt as though his heart had jumped around in his body and was now beating in his throat, just under her lips, since he could feel his pulse pounding unnaturally quickly and unnaturally loudly and it seemed to be coming from that spot. though he reasoned that could also be because he was hyper aware of it. He shuddered under her grip, his whole body convulsing.

"I swear to god, lady," he said, his voice a horse whisper - his mouth was painfully dry all of a sudden - "I am so not going to taste good. Dirty blood - bad blood. Runs in the family. I have a... blood condition. Thinners. Um um um. Haemophiliac. Yeah. Yeah. You don't want any of that."

Pandora made a noncommittal noise and ignored his protests, letting her teeth sink into his skin, a soft sigh issuing from her as the blood began to flow into her mouth. She eased her body slightly from his, not pinning him so roughly against the wall anymore, trusting he wouldn't struggle. Struggling, after all, would further worry his flesh, wouldn't allow her to heal it. And he did want it healed, didn't he? That was a courtesy, after all; she didn't have to.

He gasped, his shoulder sinking slightly as his knees bent, as though if he moved lower, he would dislodge her fangs from his neck. After that, he groaned, squeezing his eyes shut and trying to stretch his neck as though he could... what? Dislodge it from his shoulders? His weak chuckle at the helplessness of the situation turned slowly into a soft whimper. But he remained compliant. What else could he do?

Pandora was thoroughly enjoying herself, and she was just finishing up when she felt something tugging on her dress. Irritated that she had been interrupted, she didn't close his wound as she might ordinarily have, and instead turned to face the offending area.

Angua glared defiantly up at the woman, unable to properly get to her leg, but tugging on her skirts all the same, ready to launch herself onto the woman at any given moment.

She kicked out at the mongrel as she had at Oy, but Angua dodged this, letting go of her dress and hunkering down before springing at the woman.

Jasper had trotted after Angua, holding his breath for the most part. No need to slip, not again. Not if he could prevent it. Once they came upon the vampire and the catalyst, he hesitated, watching Angua and waiting to see if he'd have to intervene, or if the wolf could handle it.

Wasn't that what wolves did? Handled vampires?

He didn't have any more stones though, and he wondered if Angua had gotten some. Otherwise, they were going to have to run into someone else from DM to get Barney back.

Angua hit the vampire, and she was solid, not the sort of thing the wolf was used to biting down on. Or so she assumed, since she didn't get that far; the woman lashed out at her, catching Angua in the flank. She whimpered and fell to the the ground, immediately springing to her feet despite the pain in her ribs.

It didn't matter, though; the woman was already taking off, evidently offended. Angua growled after her until she couldn't see her anymore, then turned to Barney and trotted over, trying not to limp. She nosed him lightly, trying to see if he was all right.

He was fine. A bit - ha ha - shaken, but otherwise fine. Rather pleased that the vampire had gone away. Rather frightened that she seemed to have been replaced with another vampire and a wolf.

But he recognized this vampire. Did that mean...?

He exhaled, feeling his knees giving out as he leaned back against the wall. "Oh thank god," he muttered. "Are we going back?"

Somehow, he didn't think that they were the type who would've gotten taken.

Jasper was somewhat concerned about the wolf, but she was on her paws and moving. "I don't have any stones," he told Angua. "So we have to get him to someone else, unless you've got some?"

He supposed they could go back together, though he was reluctant to leave until they'd seen for sure if the others were around.

Angua whuffed lightly in agreement, sitting back on her haunches and beginning to gnaw at something on her hind leg. Growling in frustration, she nosed barney, and extended the leg toward him. Wrapped around it - in a move she'd unabashedly stolen from Jacob - was a piece of cord, and at the end of that, a stone. She needed him to untie it, though; she could gnaw, but it would take her a long time, and she didn't want them sitting out in the open like this any longer than they had to.

Barney blinked in confusion, having no idea what the wolf wanted him to do. But... there was a stone attached to its leg.

...A... stone.

Barney resisted the urge to ask the mythical creatures if they were insane. They needed to get the hell out of here, not... mess around with rocks! What the hell was going on?!

...But at the same time, they were from DauphinMare, and he didn't exactly want to fight them too. So he reached down, carefully, to remove the stone from Angua's leg.

"What am I supposed to do with this?" he grumbled irritably.

"Wish yourself back to DauphinMare," Jasper elaborated - since Angua couldn't. "It'll get you back there. Go check in at the medlab," he continued to instruct. Whether or not the guy was actually hurt - a laugh, since there was blood, and oh, god, he could smell it when he talked - it would be a good idea to let everyone know he was back.

Waiting for a breeze, Jasper inhaled non-blood flavored air, and held his breath. It would be fucking wonderful if he lost control here, too.
